Abstract
With his understanding of reason, the Protestant theologian and philosopher Paul Tillich (1886-1965) tries to show, especially with his doctrine ofpolarities both in relation to postmodern approaches and to the concept of a transversal reason (Wolfgang Welsch), that the different forms of reason or of rationality are nevertheless founded in the »one« reason and that some socalled different types of reason are only distorted forms.
